As the MIFF team is working remotely, we are unable to offer a phone number for you to call but if you need assistance via the phone, please mention this in your email and we will call you back in a timely fashion during standard business hours.

How do I create an account?

There is a large red button in the top right corner of the page that says Create an account. When you click this you will be prompted to enter your email address and make a password.

I’ve forgotten my password?

Simply click Forgot your password on the Sign In page, enter the email address you used when you created an account and a link to reset your password will be sent to you.

I am logged into my regular MIFF account, but I can’t access the program

Even if you have made an account with MIFF in previous years, you will require a new account for the MIFF68½ platform.

I’m a MIFF Member, how do I get my 15% discount?

Please add the unique member discount code you have been provided as part of the checkout process. When prompted, tick the box that states “I have a promo code”, enter the code in the box that appears and click “Apply”.

I’m a MIFF Member, I don’t have my members’ discount code

Please ensure that your membership is valid until at least the end of the festival (Sunday 23 August 2020). MIFF Members received a unique discount code via email on Tuesday 14 July. If you did not receive this, please contact the Membership Coordinator via email membership@miff.com.au

I can’t see an option to purchase tickets

MIFF 68½ is only available in Australia. If you are browsing the program from somewhere else in the world you will not see an option to purchase as the films are geo-blocked to Australia. If you have an international VPN turned on, this will also block your ability to purchase films and you will not see the purchase button on any films or bundles. Please turn it off to access the program.

The film says it is ‘not available in your country’?

Films on MIFF 68½ are only available to stream if you are based in Australia. Ensure you do not have an international VPN turned on.

Why does video playback stall or not play smoothly?

If your internet connection is poor or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback.

I’m experiencing a lot of buffering. What can I do?

Buffering is a result of slow or strained internet. Unfortunately we can’t fix this for you at our end.Try pausing the stream for a couple of minutes and letting it load or you may wish to reduce the quality from 1080p to 720p.

What are the system requirements?

You can watch on PCs running Windows 7+, and Intel-based Macs running OSX 10.12+. You can also watch on Android tablets and phones using Chrome and on iPhones and iPads using Safari. You can also watch on iPhone and iPad using the app. You will need a broadband or fibre internet connection - dial up will not work. You’ll find a complete list of requirements below.

Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer or Opera. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported.

Can I watch content on my iPhone/iPad?

Yes, you can watch content using the app which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store. Requires iOS 11 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. You can also watch content using Safari and this requires iOS 11.2 or later. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported.

Can I watch content on my Android Device?

Yes, you can watch content using Chrome and this requires Android 6.0 or later. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported.

What devices can I Chromecast from?

You can Chromecast from a Chrome web browser on PC and Mac computers as well as Android devices. You can also Chromecast from an iPad using the iPad app.

Can I watch on my Smart TV?

We recommend that you use an HDMI cable to connect a laptop to your Smart TV and use this setup to watch your MIFF 68½ films. We advise avoiding using a Smart TV web browser for direct streaming unless you have checked your TVs specifications and tested that this will work prior to purchasing films. It is also possible to cast from a Chrome browser if you have a Chromecast or Apple TV device, or if your TV is Chromecast-enabled.

I can’t stream any of the content, what’s going on?

Check your minimum system requirements above. We recommend that you update to the latest version of your browser.
We use adaptive bitrate streaming which means the streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your internet speed. For High Definition (HD) streaming we recommend VDSL, cable or fibre connections as we cannot guarantee consistent HD streaming on ADSL.
